The Derby Conference Centre rewards their Rail links
This Year, The Derby Conference Centre played hosts to the Derby & Derbyshire Rail Forum Pre-conference Dinner and Conference.
Although the centre currently stands as a Conferencing, Events and Bed and Breakfast facility its original conception, back in 1938 was heavily influenced by the rail industry. Built by the London Midland and Scottish Railway Company (LMS) to house their school of transport, the building was used primarily as a training venue to “blend the wisdom of the veteran with the enthusiasm and adaptability of the recruit”.

Railnews - Derby & Derbyshire Rail Forum Membership Benefit
Railnews, for those who do not know us, originated in the mid 1960s as British Rail’s staff newspaper, and became the communication tool for the entire company. It was looked at as a family newspaper by staff of all levels from the trackside to the boardroom, until privatisation in the mid 1990s.
Since privatisation, Railnews continues to be the voice for the fragmented rail industry, and still delivers the biggest readership. Loyal readers still look at the publication as the voice and notice board for news and career moves in the rail industry.
Both National Rail Enquires and Passenger Focus have chosen to utilise Railnews to communicate to the industry with quarterly insertions of their publications.
