Derby & Derbyshire Rail Forum

Derby and Derbyshire Rail Forum is at the heart of the rail industry.

Representing the largest cluster of rail companies in the world, the Derby & Derbyshire Rail Forum has almost 100 members. Formed in 1993 to promote the area as a world class centre of rail excellence, the Forum has brilliantly maintained the area’s international reputation of excellence in rail engineering, design, manufacture and consultancy.

The diversity of approach that the Forum provides is second to none, providing inward and outward trade missions, establishing successful networking opportunities, attending trade exhibitions, facilitating topical workshops and seminars, assisting the access of tenders and very importantly, providing a collective voice for the area in promoting the area’s rail industry to a global market.

The Derby & Derbyshire Rail Forum has dedicated local support from the City and County Councils, the East Midlands Development Agency, UK Trade & Industry groups.
This support helps the Forum members locate and access new markets and promote international expansion. It also helps bring new organisations to the region, to continue the growth and reputation of the regions rail industry.

Membership to the Forum is not restricted to technology and manufacturing companies. Finance, legal and other support organisations are also members of the Forum – for example as well as rail industry representation from organisations such as Bombardier, Balfour Beatty Rail and Tecforce, the Forum has members such as Nelsons Solicitors and Origination – a marketing and PR company. The main criteria the Forum insists on to be a member is a minimum of 10% of the company turnover is rail related.

The Derby & Derbyshire Rail Forum is at the forefront of global best practice, helping to support vital projects in the UK and overseas.
